Bio

A Vibrant and Expressive Contemporary Artist from New York

Adam Handler is a New York-based painter born in 1986 in the Queens neighborhood. Growing up on Long Island, he was immersed in the world of art from a young age thanks to his grandparents’ framing workshop in Brooklyn. This creative environment nurtured his passion for visual arts, and he quickly realized that his calling lay in artistic expression.

Artistic Education and Personal Influences

After developing an interest in art from childhood, Adam Handler continued his studies in Italy, perfecting his skills in classical drawing. Upon returning to the United States, he earned a degree in art history from Purchase College in 2008, further enhancing his academic expertise while refining his personal artistic style.

A Unique Style: Blending Faux Naïf and Abstract Expressionism

Adam Handler’s work is deeply rooted in an autobiographical approach. His vibrant, colorful pieces explore personal themes, primarily inspired by the significant women in his life: his wife, mother, and grandmother. This intimate connection between the artist and his subjects lends a special emotional intensity to his creations.

Using a variety of mediums, including acrylic paint, oil sticks, pencils, and markers, Handler creates recurring characters such as bats, bees, ghosts, and female figures, often integrated into compositions that evoke a childlike yet profoundly layered vision.

His style, a captivating blend of “Faux Naïf” and abstract expressionism, elicits deep emotions from the viewer, allowing them to connect with the artwork in an authentic and spontaneous way. It is art that prioritizes the experience of the moment, creative freedom, and color as a pure form of expression.

International Exhibitions and Growing Recognition

Adam Handler is an emerging artist who is gaining increasing recognition on the international stage. His works have been exhibited in prestigious galleries across the United States and in Middle Eastern countries, where his unique vision of naïve art and abstract expressionism has resonated. His creations continue to capture the attention of collectors and critics, solidifying his position among the most promising contemporary artists.
